Every serious athlete knows the importance of investing in a reliable massage gun for reducing stiffness/pain and faster healing. There are many affordable handheld massagers on the market but most have serious limitations. Some are not long enough to reach your back, while others lack a motor powerful enough to be effective. The WellBody WingSpan is a versatile massage gun with a heated head that lets you combine heat and percussive therapy to promote faster recovery. The good folks at WellBody were kind enough to send us a unit to review. Let’s see what’s included:

This massage gun came in a neat package. It has HeatBall, ball, and beak heads that you can use for heat therapy, deep tissue massage or targeting your shoulder and neck areas, respectively. The HeatBall and main massager unit have a rechargeable battery. In fact, you get two cables to charge them both. You will want to charge your device for about 2 hours. The indicator light will let you know when the massager is fully charged.

The WingSpan has 3 speeds for you to choose from. Simply press the main button to toggle between speeds of 1000, 2000, and 2500 strokes per minute. The device has an ergonomic handle that helps you target hard to reach areas. Even at the fastest speed, it doesn’t make a whole lot of noise.

The Heatball offers three temperature settings: 80.6°F, 98.6°F, and 116.6°F. You can use it for heat therapy but can also combine it with the massager for pain relief. Its lightweight design allows for easy handling across different body parts. Attaching and detaching the 3 included heads is pretty easy thanks to WingSpan’s twist and lock mechanism.

Just like any other body massager of this type, you will want to keep WingSpan moving over your muscles while avoiding bony areas. This is not a waterproof massager, so you shouldn’t immerse it in water. The WingSpan has an all aluminum powertrain, so it will last you a while.

Overall, we found the WingSpan to be incredibly convenient to use. The inclusion of the Heatball added a whole new dimension to this massager. I liked the fact that we didn’t have to wait too long for it to heat up. Attaching and removing various parts was a breeze. This massage gun is lightweight and compact, so taking it to the gym wasn’t a hassle. In fact, it was a conversation starter as most other massage guns have a very limited reach. It is well worth the investment for any athlete looking for a massage tool for faster recovery.
