Meet the uArm: an Arduino-powered 4-axis parallel-mechanism robot arm you can install on your desk. It is made up of laser cut acrylic or wood parts. You can customize your uArm using your own components. For instance, you can add a LED to make it a computer-controlled desk lamp. You can even play music, move it around, or even make it hand things over to you.
The uArm has a Windows application you can use to control it with a keyboard or mouse. It is possible to use other input devices too. The developers are working on Android and iOS apps for this. They plan to make it completely open-sourced after their Kickstarter campaign. What’s not to like?
