In order to listen to audio workouts and music as you exercise, you are going to need a reliable, high-quality pair of earphones. In the past few months, we have covered a series of TOZO headphones for those with an active lifestyle. The TOZO OpenEgo Headphones are also worth a look. These are a pair of Bluetooth 5.3 open ear headphones with directional sound and IPX4 rating. The good folks behind it gave us the opportunity to test these. Let’s see what was included:

The OpenEgo ships in a very compact package. It comes with a gorgeous charging case with an LED display that shows the battery level. You get two earbuds, a charging case, a USB-C charging cable, and two brace stabilizers. You can wear these as they are, but if you are planning to get more active and need them to stay put, you can attach the braces (stabilizers) in seconds.

Just like other TOZO headphones we have covered, these also connect to your smartphone for EQ customization. You get various preset EQs to choose from but you can always make adjustments and save new ones. The app also shows the remaining battery for each side. The smart case offers many hours of battery life for these buds. As soon as you open the case, your OpenEgo buds will activate. The charging case remains at 100% for a while when the earbuds are fully charged and turned off.

OpenEgo has customizable controls. You can increase and decrease the volume by holding, go to the next and previous song with a double tap, and activate Siri with a triple tap. You can also use a single tap to answer a call and hold to reject a call or hang up. The companion app lets you set up custom commands. These headphones are pretty touch sensitive, so you don’t want to touch and hold them accidentally when taking an important call.

We found the OpenEgo headphones to be very light, so we didn’t even notice them. They are sweat-resistant and stay put as we used them for exercise. These were surprisingly loud, so we had no trouble hearing our podcasts and music in noisy environments. They are also great for taking calls outdoors. Even for those with big ears, OpenEgo is comfortable to wear.

OpenEgo has 32 EQ settings for you to choose from, including Bass+, Classical, Trumpet, Anime, Slow Rock, Heavy Metal, Podcast, Relaxing, and Awake. You can change actions for single click, double click, triple click, and long press for each side. If you change something and have regrets, you can restore default settings with a tap.

Overall, we found these open-ear phones to be fun to wear and impressively loud for their size. They won’t outperform the Golden X1, but are not designed to. At the same time, we prefer this style to regular in-ear headphones. We used the charging case to keep these earphones powered up for all the 3 days we conducted our tests. We also liked the fact that OpenEgo looks stylish and not cheap at all. If you are looking for quality sweat-proof headphones for your workouts that don’t break the bank, you should give these a try.
