Picking the right pair of earphones can take quite a bit of research. There are plenty of affordable earbuds that simply don’t offer great sound quality. On the other hand, a lot of more expensive models don’t live up to the hype. The TOZO Golden X1 earphones strike the right balance of price and high resolution audio quality. The team at TOZO kindly provided us with a pair for this review. Let’s see what was included:
Our TOZO Golden X1 earphones shipped in a very compact package. We got a total of 6 ear tips, a smart charging case, manuals, 2 wireless buds, and a short USB-C charging cable. The charging case features a digital LED display for checking the charging status without needing to use your phone.
Our earbuds came with a pair of ear tips installed. There were 5 others included but we didn’t even have to open them. If you have used other TOZO products in the past, you are going to find the interface very similar. You can pause/start your audio, activate voice assistant, and change mode with tap and hold gestures. For example, you can tap 3 times on the right earphone to activate Siri. Tapping once on the left one changes mode from transparent to active noise cancellation.
The battery life lasts about 8 hours but you can increase that to 32 hours by taking advantage of the smart charging case. A USB-C port is available on the back for charging. Pairing these to an iPhone and laptop was painless. Once you open the cover, the earbuds power on automatically. You can also hold for 5 seconds to turn these off.
Our earbuds came ready to go out of the box. We simply had to open the charging case and find / pair them to our iPhone. We easily paired the earbuds with two devices simultaneously, which allowed for quick switching. We never had any issues with our Golden X1 earphones but the charging case has a convenient reset button which gets the job done after a 15-second hold.
The TOZO app lets you manage all your TOZO headphones from one place. These particular earphones come with 16 presets, including Jazz, Piano, Pop, Treble +, Treble -, and Rock. You can also change active noise cancellation settings, with 6 modes available. Just like other smart TOZO headphones we have covered, the Golden X1 has customizable touch commands. The app also lets you update your firmware.
These earbuds come with LDAC support, so you can use them for high-resolution 24bit/96khz music. They may be tiny and lightweight but come with a dynamic driver to deliver rich audio. While they are great for music, they also did a great job with podcasts and phone calls.
Overall, we found these earphones incredibly easy to use. The sound quality was even better than a few more expensive models we have tested in the past. The charging case’s digital display was a nice touch. The companion app was easy to set up and gave us access to plenty of EQ presets and noise cancellation modes right out of the box. The gestures can take a bit of time getting used to but you can always customize them to your liking. If you are looking for a pair of smart earphones with high resolution audio that can compete with more high-end models without breaking the bank, the Golden X1 earphones are well worth a look.
