It goes without saying that you can do so many cool things on a smartphone. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could use your smartphone to interact with your computer? THAW happens to be an interaction system that makes that possible. It allows a large display and a smartphone to seamlessly work together. Your phone can act as a physical interface and an additional graphics layer for near-surface interaction on your display.
THAW tracks the position of a smartphone placed on or near any screen by displaying a 2D color pattern that is captured using the phone’s camera. You can use this system to change digital content and exchange them between devices. It is also possible to combine on- and off-screen interactions. In the above video, you can see how this system makes it possible to drag and drop computer files using a smartphone. Pretty rad, isn’t it?
