In the past few months, we have covered plenty of devices that make your home smarter. The SwitchBot Hub Mini is also worth a look. It can be easily programmed to allow you to control your air conditioner, heater, TV, and other appliances via your smartphone. The good folks behind SwitchBot were kind enough to send us a unit to review. This handy gadget is pretty easy to set up. In fact, in Smart Learning mode, it can learn your remote control commands in seconds.
To get started, simply point your remote at the Hub Mini and press any button. In our tests, our Toshiba TV was recognized in first try. It took a couple of times for us to get our space heater to work. Once you have connected your devices, you can also rely on the Hub Mini and your smartphone to put everything on a schedule and create complex scenes.
The Hub Mini is designed for 2.4HGz WiFi at this time. It is USB powered and pretty compact, so you can take it anywhere. Any 5V 1A power source should do the job. This hub is also designed to work well with Alexa, Google Assistant, Siri, and IFTTT.
While Hub Mini supports thousands of brands out of the box, it has a manual programming mode to mimic any infrared signal. It is also optimized to work with all your other favorite SwitchBot devices, giving you easily control from anywhere.
Thanks to the Hub Mini, you can use your iPhone or Android device as the main remote for your connected home.
