Ferrofluid is a mindblowing liquid that becomes strongly magnetized around a magnetic field. It was invented in 1963 by NASA engineer Steve Papell. It can be used to build all kinds of physics toys. It is also used to visualize music. Take the Sovenomund Ferrofluid Visualizer for example: it has a microphone to pick up sounds all around it and visualize them with dancing magnetic fluid. We recently had a chance to test one. Ours came with the main unit, a magnet to interact with the device, and a charging cable.
The Sovenomund Music Mate One Ferrofluid Visualizer is super easy to use. You simply have to charge it through its USB port and push the button in the back to turn it on. It has a light, so you can see the fluid in dark rooms. You can interact with it with the included handheld magnet. What’s neat is you don’t need a Bluetooth connection to use this. As you speak, it will dance to your voice. You can also pair it with your favorite speaker.
This particular has an ABS plastic shell with a wood grain color. These are made in two colors but both work the same way. While there are speakers that offer similar functionality, with this one, you can upgrade your favorite high-end speaker.
