Meet the SoSecure: the first 256-bit AES encrypted solid state hard drive that you can control with your smartphone. The drive is shock resistant and easy to use. It makes it easy to lock or backup your data. You can also destroy your data with the push of a button. The device is lightweight and has Bluetooth to connect to your iOS/Android device.
The SoSecure SSD has two interfaces: Micro USB 3.0 and SATA II. That means you can install it inside your computer or use it as an external hard drive. The ZTB Pod allows you to backup your data easily (encrypted process). The companion app lets you manage your drive. You can see the battery level, check backup progress, see when you backed up your drive last, and lock your drive.
The Proximity Alert feature makes your phone vibrate if your hard drive is out of range of your phone. You can also lock your hard drive after a certain period of inactivity. You also get Motion Detection, which means you will be alerted if someone moves your hard drive. The drive is not only secure but lets you set a limit on pin attempts. The hard drive case will be available in aluminum, carbon fiber, oak, and plenty of great colors. SoSecure seems like a pretty special SSD. If you like the idea, you need to support it on Kickstarter.
