The U.S. military is always looking for ways to help soldiers get things done on the battlefield more effectively and efficiently. The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is now investing $2.9M to get a soft exoskeleton developed for soldiers. Unlike regular exoskeletons, the Soft Robotic Exosuit will be soft and flexible. It won’t put too much load on soldiers either. The Soft Robotic Exosuit will help soldiers become stronger.
The Soft Robotic Exosuit fits around a soldier’s waist and legs and has microprocessor, sensors, and a power supply built into its straps. It uses cables to transmit forces to the joint. The product is not commercially available, but the possibilities are endless here.
