Robots are getting smarter all the time. In the future, they will be able to adapt to injuries like animals. As the below video shows, this six-legged robot can adapt and keep walking even if two of its legs are broken. A regular robot won’t be able to continue moving with its legs broken. But this smart robot conducts experiments to determine what works despite the damage.

Each experiments enables the robot to figure out what works and what doesn’t. Over time, it figures out a behavior that works despite the damage it has taken. You can find out more about this Intelligent Trial and Error algorithm here.
