You don’t need to live in a rough neighborhood to need a reliable security camera. You can use these devices to keep an eye on unexpected activity around your property, vehicles, or delivered packages. Reolink is one of the most reliable brands in this category. The Argus 4 Pro is their latest security camera that boasts dual lenses to give you a blindspot-free view. It is battery powered and works with solar panels. The company was kind enough to send us a unit to review. Let’s see what was included:

Our Argus 4 Pro came in a fairly compact package. It shipped with two separate mounts, one for the solar panel and one for the camera. They have an easily adjustable design, so you can change the angle of the camera and solar panel easily. You can not only mount these to a wall but also a tree or poles using the included strap mounts.

The Argus 4 Pro has dual lenses and relies on stitching technology to give you a 180-degree view of your property. In comparison to a regular security camera like the Reolink Lumus, this model offers a much wider but slightly narrower view. You can always make adjustments to stitching and other settings in the app. It also features 4K UHD resolution, so you will see things in greater detail. With PIR motion, Argus is capable of distinguishing between people, vehicles, and animals.

Unlike the standard Argus 4 model, the pro model comes with ColorX technology, so you will be able to see activities at night in color. We installed our camera in an area that doesn’t get much rain exposure but the device is IP66 weatherproof rated. The Argus 4 Pro works with microSD cards up to 128GB. You can put it on loop recording, so you will never run out of space.

This camera has two-way audio, allowing you not only to see but also interact with your visitors. It has a digital zoom function up to 10X. It also works with Google Assistant. Cloud storage is available as an option. The companion app is very easy to set up. You will have to scan the QR code on the back of the camera to get started. You will be able to view all your Reolink cameras using one app. Live streaming on up to 12 devices is supported at the same time.

This camera can work entirely wire-free thanks to its battery. With just a 10-minute charge, you get up to 24 hours of battery life. Using the app, you not only get a live view of action but recorded events. The app sends you alerts when unexpected activity is detected. What’s neat is notifications and recorded videos are tagged, so you will know whether it was an animal, vehicle, or person triggering the camera.

The Argus 4 Pro also has a considerably bright light for nighttime action. Since it is relying on battery, it doesn’t run all the time but has a smart sensor that activates it when motion is detected. You have the option to use the app to create privacy zones for areas that you don’t want shown on video. Audio recording can also be turned off. You can ignore certain types of actions, e.g., animal activity. Post motion recording duration is also adjustable.

What sets this camera apart from a few others we have tested is its high customizability. For example, you can adjust the sensitivity for people, vehicles, and animals separately. Retrieving saved videos is a breeze. You can always download them to your device or simply click the record button on your phone, tablet or laptop to have a video saved to those devices directly. Even for the siren, you can choose a custom sound. If you enable the pre-alarm sound option, the camera will trigger an initial sound before activating the siren. For push notifications, you should enable critical alerts if you absolutely have to know if there is activity around your property.

Overall, we found the Reolink Argus 4 Pro to be a nice upgrade over our previous security cameras. It has a whole lot more features and can be mounted to a wall or tree. It has an ultra-wide 180-degree view, so it’s like having two cameras in one, covering a whole lot more area.  You can record video to a MicroSD card but more advanced users can use the FTP feature. There is even a time-lapse feature for moving clouds, sunrise, and construction activity. Best of all, you can access multiple Reolink cameras in one app, so it is much easier to monitor your entire property. If you are looking for a wire-free 4K camera that can be charged with sunlight and adjusted to watch out for unexpected movement around your property, you should give the Argus 4 Pro a look.
