Raspberry Pi and Arduino are wonderful platforms to use to build robots and connected electronics and learn some coding in the process. The Drinkmotizer is a drink mixing robot powered by a Raspberry Pi. It uses a stepper motor to drive the table via a drive belt. An Arduino is used to receive the recipe from the Pi unit and control the movement.

The developers used a Centipede shield to expand the I/O of the Arduino Uno. The entire project costs a bit over $1300 to complete but you may be able to find the parts for cheaper prices.
