When it comes to your WiFi network, there is no question you should do your best to keep it protected. But sharing it with your friends is another issue. They shouldn’t have to jump through hoops to be able to connect to your WiFi network. Pylon can help. It gives your friends access to a WiFi connection without a password.

All you have to do is put your Pylon on a wall near the entrance of your home. You should also connect a pre-linked base station to your modem. Your guests can gain access to your WiFi network by holding their device up to the Pylon. The connection happens thanks to NFC on Android phones and via bumping on iOS devices. You can still control who uses your network, how long they are on, and what type of access they have.

Pylon is easy to set up and allows users on the network to share music, photos, and videos over speakers and smart TVs (thanks to the Pylon Beacons connected to them). You get an effective transmitting range of 330 feet. Sounds like a pretty neat idea to make life easier for your guests. You can support the project on Kickstarter.
