Meet OTTO: a Raspberry Pi camera you can use to create GIFs. It has a rotating crank that pops up and folds out from the top to do the job. Just crank to make a GIF. When you are done, rewind the crank one turn, and your GIF is done. Your creation will be available on your phone automatically. You can use this device like a real camera.
This camera ships with a variety of modes, so you can create animated GIFs or capture group photos. Use your smartphone to change between moves. You can customize how OTTO’s modes react to your input. Attach an Arduino-powered FlashyFlash to the USB port on your camera, and you will be able to capture even more fun photos. OTTO is hackable. Just use its SDK, recompile the kernel, and you are set.
OTTO may not look as fancy as a Lytro camera, but it is truly one of the most fascinating cameras we have seen recently. The project is on Kickstarter.
