Remember MIT’s Cheetah Robot? It keeps getting better all the time. The latest video posted on MIT’s YouTube page shows how researchers have managed to teach the robot to see and jump over hurdles as it runs. It can complete multiple jumps without a safety harness.

The Cheetah uses a laser distance sensor to detect obstacles and re-plan its step lengths to get into position for a jump. It all happens autonomously. The above video demonstrates how far this robot has come.
