AI and robots are going to make life a lot easier for farmers. Robots are already being used for harvest and spraying crops. The John Deere 9RX Autonomous Tractor can take care of tilling and other tasks. It has a Gen 2 autonomous system with 16 cameras and 2 NVIDIA processors to perceive its surroundings. This system can be quickly retrofitted into existing tractors.

These tractors can work speeds up to 12mph and can respond to potential obstructions in a timely manner. Visual processing is done locally by rugged GPUs that can work on hot summer days and cold temperatures down to -40F. John Deere’s autonomy 2.0 will be released initially in Spring 2025 but full release is planned for 2026.
