Many content creators use their smartphones for livestreaming, vlogging, and Shorts. In order to hold your camera steady, you are going to need a reliable tripod or grip. The Joby GripTight PRO 2 GorillaPod is designed to secure your iPhone or Android indoors and outside. We recently had the opportunity to test one of these. Let’s see what was included:
Our Joby GripTight PRO 2 GorillaPod came in a compact package. It has two main parts: a GorillaPod 1K and a GripTight Pro 2 Mount. If you have used other GorillaPods in the past, you will know what to expect. The legs are easily adjustable. You can wrap them around a tree or set them on any surface.
The Joby GripTight PRO 2 was quite handy. It had no problem holding large and small phones. In fact, it has a range of 2.2 to 3.6″. It let us easily rotate our phone to capture horizontal or vertical videos. The cold shoe mount is removable just in case you want to add other 1/4-20″ accessories. You can also attach two arms to the sides to hold your microphone or lights.
This is a very versatile tripod but you can also use it as a smartphone grip. It is possible to use it to capture video from a higher point when your view is blocked. GorillaPod’s legs are flexible, so you can wrap them easily around tree branches, poles, and other similar objects.
The main phone holder has screws you can tighten and loosen to change angle, orientation and size of the clip. We were able to easily attach our Wavo Air to this tripod with its GorillaPod leg mounts. Mounting a tiny smartphone light using the cold shoe interface can also be done quickly. This tripod is tiny enough for you to easily fit in your bag and take with you anywhere.
Overall, we found the Joby GripTight PRO 2 GorillaPod to be very convenient for vlogging and Short. It has an adjustable design and rotating head. If you have additional arms from Joby, you can attach them to both sides to hold all your gear. Well worth a look if you are looking for a compact kit for mobile video.
