Meet Jelly: a shape changing walking robot that can change shape to roll on the ground for long distance travel. It can negotiate uneven terrain too. The robot has 12 degrees of freedom, with legs that can move in 3 directions. Jelly was built by UC Berkeley undergraduate students Travis Brashears, Philipp Wu, William Yu, Brent Yi, and Joshua Yuan.

The next step is to add active balancing controls to Jelly. The code for the robot is open source, so you can use it to build your own custom robot.
