Microsoft’s HoloLens is one of the most exciting mixed reality headsets around. The Dev Kit costs $3000, but you can pull off plenty of projects with it. As this video shows, it is possible to use this technology to capture 3D models of people and reconstruct them anywhere in the world. With Holoportation, you will be able to see, hear, and interact with others at a remote location.

Once both users wear their Hololens, they will be able to interact and communicate in the same space. To make all this happen, 3D cameras are used to capture users from different view points. 3D models are compressed and transmitted to anywhere in the world in real-time. Pretty impressive, don’t you think?
