Those of you who have played around with tesla coils in the past know too well that hitting regular electronics with their lightning bolts is not wise. That applies to drones as well. They can’t withstand being hit by a high voltage arc. This drone is different. It continues to fly around while being hit by lightning bolts from every direction. Without any protection, it would fall after just a couple of hits.

As this video shows, with its copper shield, the drone withstood a @500kV environment and landed gracefully. This test was done the University of Southern Denmark.
