Many of us enjoy drinking a delicious cup of coffee every day. Regular coffee machines can do the job but pod coffee makers are more convenient as they can get the job done quickly and don’t require as much clean up. You will also have various flavors to try. The HiBREW H1B is a compact pod coffee maker that not only works with pods but also ground coffee. It can even make tea with an optional tea accessory. We recently had a chance to test this machine. Let’s see what was included:
Our coffee maker came with a bunch of modules for various pods. It has adapters for Nespresso, Dolce Gusto, and K-cup pods. It is also ready for E.S.E pods and ground coffee. The unit has 3 buttons that you can use to control all its features. For example, you can change the temperature unit from Fahrenheit to Celsius by holding all 3 buttons. You can hold the center button to change mode from hot to cold coffee. Our machine also came with a pump and needle for cleaning
This is one of the most compact coffee machines I have ever tested. Don’t let the size fool you, though. Due to its modular design, you can try this with all your favorite coffee and espresso pods. Even if you are not a pod user, you can use regular ground coffee. The H1B has a large display to show the temperature and water level.
Before getting started, you will want to rinse all the modules. You can always test the machine by using the pump to push some water through it. Adding and removing pods can be done by lifting the handle lever and pulling out the holder module. I tested this machine with ground coffee and various pods and had no issues. I love the fact that you can make adjustments to volume and temperature presets. You can even adjust the prebrew time by holding the power and brew buttons simultaneously and use the cup size button to adjust it from 0 to 10 seconds.
To adjust the drink extraction temperature, you should hold the coffee button for 3 seconds until it flashes blue, then press the button again to change the temperature. The machine has a memory function, so it will save your last settings. The water tank and tray are removable for easy cleaning.
Overall, I found this machine to be very good at what it promises. It does vibrate a little bit when making your drink but gets the job done in seconds. I love the fact that I was able to use my ground coffee with this. While pods can be fun to experiment with, I prefer cheap black coffee. The H1B is very safe but there are warnings on it to make sure you don’t touch any sharp parts (e.g. on the DG pod adapter). If you are looking for a versatile pod coffee machine that also accepts ground coffee, you should give this machine a look.
