Tic-Tac-Toe is one of those classic games that many of us played when we were children. It doesn’t take a whole lot of time to learn and can be played anywhere. The game ends in a draw if both players know what they are doing. The GiiKER Tic-Tac-Toe Bolt brings this game to the 21st century. It features 3 games in one, including Infinite Tic-Tac-Toe, which is an upgrade over the original game. It only lets you have 3 O’s or X’s on the board. GiiKER was kind enough to send us one to test. Let’s see what was included:
Our Tic-Tac-Toe Bolt shipped in a tiny package. It has 3 games for you to play: Infinite Tic-Tac-Toe, Memory Flash, and Cover-up Tic-Tac-Toe. The main unit has a touchscreen display and a switch that lets you change modes. The main game lets you play against an AI or friends. You will still have to line up 3 Xs or Os to win but you are only allowed to have 3 of them on the board. That means as soon as you put a fourth one on the board, one of your other marks will disappear. This adds a new dimension to the game, forcing you to position your marks strategically to avoid getting trapped.
The memory flash game requires you to remember a sequence of moves and repeat them. There are 9 levels for you to play. The device gives you feedback when you make a mistake. The last game requires you to assemble a grid to play. Cover-Up Tic-Tac-Toe lets you put your marks over those of your opponent. This game ships with 2 large, medium, and small pieces for each side.
We found the touchscreen display to be pretty responsive. Even without removing the screen protector, our moves were registered without delay. The bottom compartment holds the pieces and grid parts. The entire unit fits in the palm of your hand. You can easily fit it in your bag. While this is designed for indoor play, you can technically use it outside as long as it is not too bright.
GiiKER has been behind many other educational games, including a Rubik’s cube that combines with your phone to show you how to solve such puzzles. At first, we were skeptical about the idea of a smart Tic-Tac-Toe game. GiiKER has hit it out of the park with this one, though. The Tic-Tac-Toe Bolt is great for kids and adults. The Infinite Tic-Tac-Toe game looks easy on paper, but you can get trapped and lose with a couple of subpar moves. The memory game can help children improve their focus. If you are looking for a fun, affordable game for the young ones in your family, you should give this toy a look.
