Gaussian Gun Physics Toy

In the past few years, we have covered plenty of cool toys that can teach physics concepts to students. The Gaussian Gun is also worth a look. It teaches users the laws of motion and magnetism. It comes with neodymium magnets aligned on a linear rail and steel balls. When set up properly, a slow moving ball accelerates up to 4 times its original speed by the pull of magnets and Newton’s Third Law of Motion.

The set includes 10 x 3/4″ steel balls, a low friction track, 4 neodymium magnets, and 4 magnet holders.
