We have seen plenty of exciting head mounted displays in the past couple of years. As virtual reality becomes more popular, we will see even more sophisticated products in this field. FOVE is quite interesting already. It is a HMD with eye tracking. This product can provide you with a more immersive 3D experience. It has various sensors (high refresh rate gyro, accelerometer, magnetometer) and an external unit to track head movements. It lets you interact with objects with your gaze.
The developers have decided to selectively blur objects at depths the player is not focusing on to reduce simulation sickness and eye strain. That means you will be able to get more into your games without having to make a big compromise. A SDK is in the works. FOVE was recently accepted into the Microsoft Ventures Accelerator in London, so the future seems bright for this company.
