Chessboards have come a long way over the years. Some of them now have robotic mechanism to move the pieces on their own. The Fidelity Electronics Phantom Chess (6100) was way ahead of its time. It not only lets you play against a computer without having to move its pieces but also can play against itself.

The Fidelity Phantom 6100 uses a robotic arm under the board to move the pieces and set up new games. Its opening library has 12000 positions. It was manufactured in 1988, so don’t expect it to beat Stockfish or AlphaZero.

These are pretty rare but you can find them in all kinds of conditions on eBay.
