Chess robots have been around for a few decades. The Fidelity Phantom 6100 is robotic chessboard from 1988. It has a 5MHz processor with 8KB RAM. This chessboard has a robotic mechanism underneath the board to grab and move the magnetic pieces. It will also take care of captured pieces by putting them on the sides. Just like other chess robots from that time, this one also has an autoplay mode. In fact, it will continue playing and resetting the board until you stop it.
