Dealing with ALS is not without its challenges. Communication devices for ALS patients are not always cheap. That’s where the EyeControl comes into play. It enables ALS patients to speak using only their eyes thanks to a simple wearable device and swipe technology we use on mobile phones. The system has an infrared camera connected to a glasses frame and a credit-card sized computer that identifies and translates the blinks and eye movements into audio commands. These commands can be transmitted to a smartphone via Bluetooth.
The smartphone app enables the patient to communicate using text to speech technology. The system makes it easier for users to ask for help or compose sentences using a virtual interface. This technology can be a lifesaver for many folks. If you like the project, please support it on Indiegogo.
