Driverless cars are nothing new. Plenty of companies are already working on their own autonomous and driverless cars. As reported on the Japan Times, ZMP & DeNa are joining up to create Robot Taxi, which happens to be a line of driverless cabs that can be hailed via smartphones.

The above video shows how the Robot Taxi service will work. These driverless cabs are dispatched in response to smartphone requests. ZMP will develop the automated driving technology while DeNA handles the software part. It will probably take years to perfect this idea, but we will certainly see more driverless taxi services in the future.
