Robots are going to do many things for us in the future, including handling delicate items. Plenty of researchers are working to perfect them. Dexterity Gen (DexGen) happens to be a controller that brings impressive dexterous manipulation capabilities to robots, enabling them to work a pen or syringe.
(5/N) With large-scale pretraining, Dexterity Gen provides reliable guidance across a wide range of objects—whether it’s rough object edges, tiny items, or the effects of gravity. We can handle them all. pic.twitter.com/hh0d4uWhf6

It is a generative model that refines high-risk motion prompts into safe actions. It combines the benefits of learning from human demonstration and reinforcement learning. Dexterity Gen was trained using a diverse set of manipulation data in simulation. It allows robots to handle a variety of objects. The above video shows it in action.
