Chessnut Pro and Chessnut EVO are two of the most gorgeous smart chessboards on the market. The Chessnut Pro is a tournament-sized chess board that lets you play on Chess.com and Lichess. It combines with the official Chessnut app to let you play online and train. You can also use it with DGT Pi, ChessBase, Arena, WhitePawn and other popular third party applications. It has gorgeous hidden LEDs underneath.
The Chessnut EVO has its own engines that you can access through its 12.3-inch touchscreen display. It has Maia and Stockfish but there is a Leela Chess Zero engine that you can train with your own games. You are going to need a minimum of 20 games to get started. Both boards have smart piece recognition, so they will know exactly how the board is set up and which piece you are moving. You can use this feature to quickly set up positions to analyze.
The Chessnut EVO also has a career and chess clock mode. It is powered by a 8-core processor with 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage space. It lasts up to 10 hours on battery. Unlike the Chessnut Pro, this model doesn’t require a smartphone to work. It gives you feedback with colorful LED lights. The Chessnut Pro is great for tournaments but is much harder to take around. The Chessnut EVO is much more portable but won’t be able to outperform Stockfish running on much more powerful computers.
