Chess computers have come a long way over the years. The latest models now work with Lichess, Chess.com and many other popular platforms. The Chessnut Go is one of the thinnest smart chessboards we have tested. It has a portable, magnetic design, so you can easily take it with you anywhere and set it up without having to worry about the pieces falling all over the place. It has smart pieces, so the board knows which piece you are picking up every time. Setting up a new position or playing Chess960 is a breeze on this board.
The Chessnut Go also has an OTB game recording button. It works with Lichess, Chess.com, ChessBase, Arena, WhitePawn, and other apps. The Chess Genius Pro 2024 is not a connected board. It has its own engine built-in with an estimated rating of 2200 ELO. It has a colorful display with buttons you can use to set level, get hints, get “next best” move, and change other settings. This board has a 120MHz processor and press sensory board. The brightness of the display can be easily adjusted.
Both boards have a compact design, so you can easily fit them in your bag. They are magnetic, so you can move them around. The Chessnut Go has a rechargeable battery while Chess Genius Pro 2024 can be powered by an adapter or regular batteries. The Chessnut Go doesn’t have an engine, so it requires you to be connected to get the most out of it.
