The Chessnut Air and other boards in this family know which piece you are picking up. They all support Chess960. You can also use them with ChessBase, Arena, and other platforms. We were even able to get Chessnut boards to work with the DGT Pi. The Square Off Grand Kingdom Chessboard is much heavier. Both models have a rechargeable battery, though Chessnut Air works much longer on battery.
Both boards have apps that let you analyze your games after the fact, so you can identify your mistakes. The Chessnut Air is much more portable, so you can take it with you anywhere. Square Off lets you livestream matches. It can also give you personalized feedback.
