We hear about mass shootings every day it seems. Drones may be able to help stop them in the future. Axon is working on a non-lethal, remotely operated TASER drone to stop mass shootings. The aim is to develop a drone that can improve real-time situational aware of active shooter events and incapacitate threats in under 60 seconds.
This non-lethal drone will integrate camera networks and sensors in real-time to facilitate first responder communications. It will also help with virtual reality active shooter response training. The company is working on a lightweight TASER payload that can be used on a small robot and drone. A human operator will make the decision to activate the device. According to the company, a working solution should be ready in 2024.
