3D printing is the present and future. There are already plenty of of affordable 3D printers you can pick up to start experimenting with this exciting technology. AstroPrint helps take your experience to the next level by allowing you to use your smartphone or tablet to print. It essentially adds WiFi to your 3D printer. You will be able to print from your local network and on the Internet. Users have the option to view their work online and access their files anywhere. AstroPrint is self-optimizing and self-updating.
AstroPrint has two parts: AstroBox allows you to connect and control your 3D printer over WiFi from your phone, computer, and tablet. AstroPrint.com slices and stores your designs in the cloud. Through it, you can connect to your AstroBox. Whether you are a beginner or a 3D guru, you are going to get something out of AstroPrint. All you need to do is plug your printer’s USB cable into the AstroBox, connect to the appropriate network, and you are set. The box creates its own WiFi network, so can use it even when your internet goes down.
AstroBox software is open source. The developers use pcDuino V2 and pcDuino3S in these boxes. There is a lot to like here. You can support the project on Kickstarter.
