In the past few years, we have covered plenty of cool toys that can be used to teach scientific concepts to students. This 6-Coil Electromagnetic Cyclotron is also worth a look. It is a nifty desktop gadget that can accelerate one or multiple balls. We recently had a chance to test one of these. Let’s see what was included:
Our 6-Coil Electromagnetic Cyclotron came fully assembled. We simply had to plug it in and use one of the included steel balls to get going. Unlike the 2 and 4-coil models that we have covered in the past, this one can go a lot faster. It also make a bit of more noise. It weighs a bit more than the smaller models, so it is more stable. The coils have lights on them to give you feedback. You will just want to put this on a flat surface to get the best results. With multiple balls, it can get a bit tricky as they may hit each other if not set up correctly.
