Most of us are fascinated with teleportation devices that we have seen in the movies. You are going to have to wait for a while to get your hands on those kinds of devices. But with Scotty, you can “teleport” physical objects. The kit includes a 3D printer with a 3-axis milling machine, a camera, and a microcontroller for encryption/decryption and transmission.

Scotty: Teleporting Physical Objects

The sender unit digitizes the original object layer by layer and shaves off material using the milling machine. The receiving receives encrypted data, decrypts it, and starts 3D printing right away. As one object disappears, another appears on the receiving machine. You can find out more about this on Stefanie Mueller’s website.
